Fundraising on a budget
Posted by: We Love Flamingos

Summary: Fundraising activities are supposed to raise money for a particular cause. But fundraising itself requires large amounts to money in order to kick start the fundraising. This article discusses ways through which money can be raised with little or no money.

Many non-government and charity organizations as well as individuals hold fundraisers so as to raise the money to support their cause. The problem is that in order to hold such fundraising activities one has to invest large amounts of money so as to initiate the fundraisers. This investment is required in order to advertise, to pay the volunteers. And to pay for the items which are given away during the fundraisers. There are however some techniques available through which one can have a fundraising with little or no money. These techniques are very simple to use but some of them require thinking out of the box.

The following are the steps for fundraising with little or no money:

1. Determine your goals
One should first of all write down the goals of the fundraising activity. This includes deciding the specific amount one needs to raise. One should also decide the time period in which this amount is to be raised. Further objectives can be planned through this information e.g. what amount has to be raised per day for achieving the target in the available time.

2. How will you raise money?
One then needs to decide that how the money is to be raised. There can be various methods through which money can be raised. First of all it is necessary to find a business which supports your cause. Businesses can then be asked to help in various ways. These Include:
  • Businesses can be asked to donate services and products and one can then auction these for raising funds.
  • One can partner with a business in which the businesses will supply coupons for free products or services (e.g. t-shirt, dinner etc.) to the donors who donate funds. The proceeds of the donations can then be split between the business and those who are raising funds.
  • You could also try flamingo flocking.  Learn more from www.flamingoflocking.com.  Flocking teams earn upwards of $1300 per day by placing 10 or more plastic pink flamingos on the lawns of unsuspecting donors in the middle of the night.  The donors will then pay a flocking fee to have the birds removed and could opt to give an additional donation to choose the next flocking victim.  Additionally, these groups have sold flamingo flocking insurance equal to the donation to avoid having their lawns flocked.  A fundraiser like this can cost only $200 to $500 dollars and has the highest pay back.  Plastic flamingos can be purchased from www.plastic-flamingos.com.
3. Assemble a team
Assistance should be taken from people who support one's cause. One should make a list of such people and ask them for assistance. Assistance can also be asked from those who support your cause but cannot help you financially. Most of them will be glad to spread the word around if your cause is worthwhile.

4. Market your cause
Free marketing can be done very easily. Below are some ideas for free marketing:
  • Go door to door in the neighborhood and spread the word
  • Post on websites and forums supporting your cause
  • Post on FaceBook, twitter, MySpace and other social networking sites
  • Post on websites which provide free ads services under volunteer section
  • Spread the word through email. Email is free, fast and very simple to use.
  • Flamingo flocking generates a lot of buzz because who wouldn’t notice 20 or more plastic pink flamingos on someone’s yard?
Many people effectively use the above mentioned steps for free fundraising activities and you can do it as well. The secret of success is to employ all your resources effectively.
Good luck!

Fundraising for Church Ministries

Every church, when it starts needs a lot of money. Even some old churches need money to rebuild itself. If you are one of them, you need to rely on some basic tips to raise the money. Getting the youth to take part can be positive, because they are the source of high and vibrant energy can yield positive results.

  • A usual trend is to announce in the church about the cause. Make people understand the value of the cause. If the congregation is satisfied about the cause, the money will start to flow by itself. If the response is lukewarm, do not hesitate. Go out to each house and people would readily give.
  • The youth of the church can contribute a lot with their service. They can go around to houses and do some household chores. They can help in cleaning the house, doing shopping etc. and get some money in return. This will save the house of unnecessary tension to look for outside people who will charge high rates.
  • Another good way is to organize games, for children and adults. Various kinds of games can keep the people interested and can be a good source of income also.
  • Organizing a fair is another option which will have a sure way of income and enthusiasm.
  • Many churches nowadays opt out for lottery or scratch cards to raise money. This is a unique way in which the lottery cards or scratch cards are sold to general people. The cards cost should be set low so that even the poor can buy one. The rich may buy more. The lottery card will have a lucky draw in which those with the lucky numbers will get prizes. When the scratch cards are scratched, the hidden code reveals a prize, which may vary from cash prize to any high priced gifts.
  • Discount cards or coupons are another choice. For this you have contact a local retailer who is ready to offer a discount on their products. You have to then make or get discount cards which will be sold to the public who want to buy the discounted products. The commission on the discount is your profit.
  • Retreats can be an alternative to all the commercial or entertaining kinds of works. Organize a retreat or prayer meeting asking everyone to contribute. Provide a good service and your pocket will be flowing.
  • Get-togethers are an even better way. Call for a mass get-together. Ask people to come with their spouses, family, relatives or friends. Serve food and drinks. Ask someone to sing or dance to make the event more memorable.
  • If there are any good cooks within you, try to do different dishes and announce a dinner, maybe at a get-together.
  • Organize a tour to an orphanage or old-age home. People are sure to rush in with a lot of services especially funds.
  • Competitions can be a craze among students. Conduct a bible quiz for adults and give prizes. Collect money from the audience.
  • The youth hold a big key to these kinds of projects. Responsibility can be fun. It can be a great way to learn also.

How a Girl Scout troop earned $8700 with plastic flamingos and cookies

How a Girl Scout troop earned $8700 with plastic flamingos and cookies
Summary: Flamingo Flocking is a creative way of fundraising and is increasingly becoming very popular. This article discusses that how a Girl Scout troop managed to raise $8700 through flamingo flocking.

Girl Scouts usually raise funds through different activities and most popular of them is selling cookies. At times these activities can be very monotonous and one begins to lose interest in such activities. There are however fun ways of fundraising as well.

One such fun way is flamingo flocking and can help raise huge amounts of money. You would be surprised to know that Girl Scouts of West Central Florida earned $8700 last month through flamingo flocking.

The question is that how did they do it? And what exactly is flamingo flocking?

Flocking is fun and easy. The troops go late in the night and plant plastic flamingos in someone's yard. They started by flocking flamingos outside friends yards who they thought would appreciate this new idea. For removing the birds from their yards, they required to pay the troops (it was donation, off course). The fun part was that the person could then name the next "victim" of flocking.

They then began to plant these flamingos outside the houses of neighbors after a few days. They were afraid initially, as they didn't know that How might they react. But things turned out just fine and most people loved this idea and donated willingly.

The troop had a flock consisting of 25 pairs of pink flamingos from www.plastic-flamingos.com. Troops work hard to flock these plastic birds outside people's yards. This activity was not only proved to be fun way of fundraising but also helped raise $8700 in just a month.

This method proved to be a success as it was conducted by young girls who were creative in their approach. They used to cover the flamingos with ornaments and wrote very attractive letters hanging on the flamingo's neck which convinced the 'victim' to pay the donation of $10 plus order 3 boxes of cookies. The girls took this activity as a practical joke and loved doing it again and again. The 'victims' also appreciated their approach and loved naming the next 'victims'.

The girls used to price each 'victim' differently. They also planted these flamingos outside businesses that paid $50 for a flocking and loved to name their competitors as 'victims', who turn flocked them again for a higher price.

The girl scout troop is now planning to start a flamingo insurance scheme whereby each victim will have an opportunity to 'protect' the flock for a period ranging from a week to a month, paying for it in advance.

The sight of flamingos planted outside someone's house is beautiful. These flamingos can be planted easily and can be removed without any damage to the garden or yard.

Non-profit organizations should sue this fun way of fundraising as Girl Scouts of West Central Florida through the use of flamingos.
